Sitecom 300N wireless router

Wonky Wireless
With wireless access not as ubiquitous as it could be, here in SA, it’s always handy to have your own. Out on the road, at a conference or perhaps even in a client’s board room. All of these are places you could realistically need wireless access.
Sitecom’s compact 300N 3G router offers just that. It’ll fit in a laptop bag, without taking up much space, and even has a USB port for linking up a 3G wireless modem. Wireless range is good, too – you’ll be able to surf the airwaves way further than needed in the situations where this is deployed.
Sadly, the Sitecom’s second biggest problem is that it requires power. When you’re out on the road, a plug point is a huge luxury and battery power is more likely to be your mobile friend.
Its biggest problem is a device called the Mi-Fi – a portable, battery-powered wireless access point with full security and a SIM slot, for the built-in 3G modem. Sorry, Sitecom.
The 3G-via-USB connectivity is convenient if you don’t have a landline at home, and need to share the connection with a few other computers. You can tuck it away, near a power point, and have a permanent wireless home network with temporary internet access.

At the price, a Mi-Fi would be a better choice, since it costs the same and does everything this will do, with more convenience.
In summary
Plus: Compact; great wireless range
Minus: Not portable enough
