Divoom IRIS-02 speakers
Theo Boshoff
Not only do the Divoom IRIS-02 portable speakers look smashing, they also pack a powerful sound punch for their size. The blast comes from the two 2.5Watt RMS units (5Watt RMS in total) and the sound quality is very respectable, although does tend to distort a tad at the top volume mark.
Nonetheless, when listening to music or watching a DVD on your PC, there won’t be much need to crank up the volume to full blast. The speakers’ sound range, for their size, is good and there is no problem in playing instrumental and classical music or hard rock. Movie clips featuring voice were very clear. The speakers’ frequency range is from 120Hz to 20KHz.
These are also not just for your PC, connected through the USB-powered cable. You can also use the speakers on any device sporting a standard 3.5mm jack, like iPods and MP3 players, cellphones or whatever you fancy. We have to say, it’s great that it is USB-powered, because needing another power socket and cable is just so last century.
The Divoom IRIS-02 speakers are fun and come in a variety of funky colours, such as metallic purple (we reviewed those), yellow, pink, orange and green.
Another plus is their price. You can get them from Esquire technologies for around about R80. Not too shabby, we say.
