Darwinia
Husain Haffejee
Darwinia is a world set inside the computer of Dr Sepulveda. How did you get in? Well, you hacked into his PC and found this awesome little virtual world that has a species near extinction, the Darwinians. The Darwinians are a simple, peace-loving race, until they are brought to near extinction by the evil Virii. This being a Microsoft game, you’ll be seeing lots and lots of computer references but don’t worry if you don’t understand them as they don’t directly impact the game.
You take on the role of a commander/chieftain who must, with the help of the `creator’, recreate the world of Darwinia. You are tasked with doing different things, ranging from opening gateways to clearing infested zones. After clearing a zone, the grateful little Darwinians can move into the area. In your quest to save this race, you are aided by mainly two sets of units, one being your soldier squads, who are the grunts. You take them and go around shooting all the evil Virii. The other are engineers that capture all the enemy buildings and gather the souls of Darwinians who have died during the war; after collecting them, the engineers take them to an incubator where you revive them.
The single player, called Darwinia, is prolonged due to the fact you have to build the race from scratch, but it really connects you to the characters on a whole new level. Losing your little green men can make you sad but, have no fear, as they are going to be there for a while.

The multiplayer, called Multi-winia, is split into two parts, playing against computers (a form of solo play) and playing online. The modes are fun and addictive, making you love the game all the more.
This is a must-have game, so get it now.
