Rock-Start Your Party
Greg "Eleven Fingers" Spence
"So you wanna be a rock superstar, live large, a big house, five cars...." as stated by the rap/rock group Cypress Hill?
Well, we can't promise you the big house and five cars, but if you want to party like a rock star, then we have just the thing for you: Guitar Hero World Tour!
For those of you who have not been exposed to this worldwide phenomenon, the basic idea is that you are able to participate and actually play in your very own virtual rock band. You use specifically designed controllers that look like the instruments you are playing to interact with the game and actually play along with up to three friends in your very own rock band.
You can bash away at the drums, take on the rhythm of lead guitar, beef it up with a little bass or try out for vocals. This game caters to all players, whether you’re 14 or 40, like to head-bang to the likes of Korn's Freak on a Leash or prefer the more mellow sounds of Willie Nelson's On the Road Again, there is something here for you. There are over 85 original tracks to choose from, as well as a multitude of downloadable content.
The game interface has just the right difficulty level for each player, from beginner to expert. You will pick up the use of each set of controllers with just a little practice and then..... the world is your stage.
This is a great interactive, multiplayer experience that allows you to create your own rocker, band name and logo, as well as compete against other gamers either at home or online for supreme rock-star status.
It's interactive, it's competitive, it's addictive and it's probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on (minus a shirt for the more avid rockers, during those intense, true rock-star moments.)
This is not just another one-hit wonder in the gaming world, with four previous games in the series and more in development.
If you are looking for a game that is not limited to one or two players and will not only provide entertainment to the participating gamers but also to your "audience", then this is just the thing for you.
It's as easy as plugging everything in, popping the game into your console, cranking your amp up to 11 and living vicariously through Guitar Hero World Tour. Before you know it, you will be fighting off groupies, signing record deals and rocking out - all from the comfort of your own home.
