UNWIND: GAMES

Atari Flashback
Nicola Mawson
Remember the old Atari games, the ones with a console that plugged into the TV, and a cartridge that plugged into that?

Well if, in a moment of nostalgia, you’ve phoned your folks and asked them what happened to that box because you wanted to play a few games – and discovered that it’s long been thrown away, take heart.

The Atari is back. The Atari Flashback holds 20 games from the 1980s, and also plugs straight into the TV. And it has two controllers, so you and a friend can walk down memory lane. And memory lane it is. The graphics are the same as they were way-back when: crap.

The games include Atari 2600 classics such as Adventure, Air-Sea Battle, Battlezone, Breakout, Canyon Bomber, Crystal Castles, Gravitar, Haunted House, Millipede, Sky Diver, Solaris, Sprintmaster, Warlords and Yars’ Revenge.
It also has Atari 7800 games such as Asteroids, Centipede, Desert Falcon, Charley Chuck’s Food Fight and Planet Smashers.

If you enjoy that type of stocky graphics, where you can see the pixels, and a trip back in time, then it’s worth a buy – even if only for nostalgia’s sake.
