What’s that you say? A new version of the Nintendo DS landing on our shores next month? It’s true. The latest guise of Nintendo’s mobile gaming gadget, the DSi XL, featuring bigger screens and two cameras, is to be made available in South Africa late in April, the company has revealed.

The DSi XL's screens are a whopping 93% bigger than the previous DS Lite device, at 4.2-inches each. They also offer a wider viewing angle to share the fun with others.

Available in wine red and dark brown colours with a glossy top cover and matt finish below, the DSi XL comes pre-loaded with some Nintendo DSiWare software. As well as the Nintendo DSi browser, the DSi XL features Dr Kawashima’s Little Bit of Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictionary 6-in-1 with camera function.
