Google goes TV route Google goes TV route
By Theo Boshoff
Internet search giant Google is making headlines again with the news that it is developing Google TV.

Google TV is based on the Android platform running Google’s Chrome web browser, which will allow TV viewers to have the full internet experience straight from their TV, along with having access to normal TV channels.

Users will be able to search and watch content from a wide variety of sources, such as the usual TV providers, the web, and their personal content libraries. They will be able to run mobile applications from the comfort of their living-rooms. Users will be able to watch normal TV channels, pay TV channels, stream video across the web from sites like YouTube, brows web pages with flash content without a problem, and even access applications available from Android Market.

Google goes TV route No longer will access to the web be confined to computers and mobile devices, but your TV will also be your internet device offering a full web experience on a bigger screen with added peripheral devices to enhance the experience.

Google TV will, according to the company, be able to work with any TV operator.

Just like what is happening in the mobile application space, application developers will also have the opportunity to create applications for the platform to offer users even greater choice and options to experience and interact with the world from in front of their TV sets.
