Hotspots reach 700 count
By Theo Boshoff
Internet service provider (ISP) Internet Solutions (IS) now has 700 AlwaysOn hotspots enabled across the country.
They have done this in conjunction with various players in the hospitality industry, like hotel groups and restaurants, to have the 700 AlwaysOn hotspots ready for the thousands of visitors expected for the Soccer World Cup in June.
The company is possibly the largest provider of hotspots in the country and according to Justin Spratt, GM of WiFi and VOIP Mobile at IS, its WiFi network has grown by 50% over the past two years.
IS AlwaysOn hotspots are available at all major South African airports, Sun International hotels, City Lodges, Three Cities hotels, Mugg and Bean, as well as Seattle Coffee Company coffee shops in major cities.
To ensure end-users are happy and cared for, the company has built a support team with the right skills in place to ensure that we can cope with the potentially large increase in the volume of calls over the Soccer World Cup period. According to Spratt, they will also cater for multilingual phone support to customers if they have problems.
