More 3D for Nu Metro
By Theo Boshoff
With the explosion of 3D on the scene and the success of movies like Avatar and Monsters vs. Aliens, it is no surprise that we are seeing more cinemas adding 3D capability to their screens.
As such, Nu Metro Cinemas will be adding 11 more RealD 3D screens to its already 14 screens across the country, to be ready, according to the company, by the end of May.
What could maybe be of more importance here is that a few towns, considered by some to be somewhat rural, will now also have their first ever 3D screens and won't have to miss out on the fun, or have to drive hours to experience movies in 3D.
So Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Nelspruit - we welcome you to the 3D world, which movie-goers in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and Durban have already had the pleasure of experiencing.
Other new 3D sites will now also include Clearwater Mall in the West of Johannesburg and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
And, there’s no need to worry about what to watch. According to Nu Metro, movie houses are working on about 20 3D films to be released before the end of the year. Who knows how many 3D films there will be next year, but it’s safe to say, the public is ready for them.
