For those Telkom customers wishing to port their numbers to Neotel, Nashua Mobile says it will be able to help immediately and adds that in doing so, customers could save themselves some money.
According to Nashua Mobile, some customers could save between 14% and 27% of their monthly telecoms bill by switching from Telkom to Neotel, while also retaining their existing fixed-line numbers.
Chris Scoble, MD of Nashua Mobile says: “Neotel has a very competitive offering, including some of the best rates in South Africa for on-net (Neotel to Neotel calls), and customers can now make the switch without the inconvenience of losing their phone numbers.”
Previously, number portability was only possible for large corporate organisations that could port batches of numbers in blocks of 1 000 or 10 000, but now consumers and small businesses also have this opportunity.
Numbers starting with 01x, 02x, 03x, 04x, 05x and 01102xx, says Nashua Mobile, can be ported immediately, but 0861 and 087 numbers cannot currently be ported.
People wishing to port can send their Neotel application form and accompanying documentation, latest Telkom account and a copy of their ID to Nashua Mobile. The company says to port a number will take up to five working days if the port is approved.
