Mobile network provider Vodacom, jointly with Vodafone, is offering locals a range of new cellphones, which it believes will offer users increased communication capabilities at a price they can afford.

These cellphones, Vodacom says, are aimed at the budget-conscious consumer, who also wants a full communication experience, such as high-end users are privy to, including access to the net and e-mail and features like cameras and a music player.

The VF340 cellphone features the famed Oera Mini internet browser for a quicker and more affordable internet surfing experience, an FM radio, a camera and a music player at a starting price of only R399. Users can also customise the look of their phone, as it comes with interchangeable coloured covers.

Selling for R499 is the VF543 cellphone, which features a touchscreen and supports e-mail. The phone also allows access to social networking applications like the popular Facebook and Twitter services. According to Vodacom, the VF543 also features an FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 capability, as well as a camera with both still and video-recording capabilities.

The VF546 handset is the top-of-the-range phone and sells for only R599. It sports a full Qwerty keyboard for users needing optimised text-based communications abilities, such as texting and e-mail or searching the internet.

New from VodacomThe VF546, says the company, also includes a 2MP camera and the localised function of offering both Zulu and Xhosa as extra language options.

In addition to the new budget-friendly phones, the company is also offering an update to the ZTE S302 cellphone for the elderly and visually impaired, the ZTE S306.

According to Vodacom, the ZTE S306 phone boasts the same large buttons, but a larger screen to make reading text and numbers easier. It also features a dedicated and improved SOS button for those in need of assistance in emergencies. The phone, furthermore, includes a slide key lock button, louder ringing tone, and a handy torch.

The ZTE S306 will be available from Vodacom for an estimated price of R399, which also includes a free starter pack.
