BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) has just revealed an update on the Curve device, which now also sports 3G capability.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G, notes the company, now supports high-speed 3G (HSDPA) networks around the world. It also features a full-QWERTY keyboard, an optical trackpad for easy navigation, built-in GPS and WiFi, as well as dedicated media keys.

The Curve 3G, furthermore, sports a camera capable of taking still photos as well as record video.

Although the phone ships with the BlackBerry 5 software, it is capable of running the recently launched BlackBerry 6 operating system.

The company subsequently also unveiled BlackBerry Podcasts, a free application and service offering access to audio and video podcasts from leading content providers.

Audio and video content, notes the company, can be downloaded over WiFi or over cellular networks and then enjoyed through the BlackBerry media player.

Users can also search the Podcast Catalogue by keyword, category, channel or top downloads, and subscribe or simply preview a particular podcast before subscribing, according to BlackBerry.

RIM says that it is working with a growing range of leading content providers to bring a wide variety of podcasts into the Podcast Catalogue.

Content providers currently include: Above and Beyond, Bloomberg, CBC, Corus, Discovery Networks, How Stuff Works, HBR, NPR, PRI, Reuters, Speed TV, TVO, The Onion, Wizzard Media, Resident Advisor Podcast and many more.
