Verbatim's new Gigabit network attached storage (NAS) device to easily manage and share all your files across a network is here.
It is external storage that will be more the welcomed in any small office or even at home for a consumer's home network so that the entire family can store their data and content.
The Gigabit NAS allows users to clear some storage space on their computers and easily dump it all on the device.
According to Verbatim, users will be able to store up to 1 400 films, 330 000 songs and about a million photos on the 1TB capacity NAS. And because of its network ability, which is also wireless-enabled, users can share these or other files and content with other computers or devices, such as the PlayStation 3 or Xbox in seconds.
And, of course, it’s perfect as that much-needed backup system for all your PCs at home or in a small office, with the included Nero BackItUp 4 software.
The NAS also features two USB 2.0 connection ports to plug other USB devices directly into the device. Naturally, the fast gigabit data transfer is great if users deal with large amounts of data.
It features TwonkyMedia Server integrated, which assists users to better manage their media content. A torrent client as well as an FTP server is included to sweeten the deal.
The network, says Verbatim, is quick and easy to set up and to use due to the Samba protocol for the PC or Bonjour for Mac computers.
The 500GB capacity Gigabit NAS goes for around R1 800 and the 1TB capacity device for approximately R2 000.
