Tweet your team to victory
By Theo Boshoff
With only a few days left to the Soccer World Cup, why not get in on the action with Sony Ericsson, joining the Twitter Cup?
You can support your team online by tweeting the country name of the team you support to see who gets the most tweets.
All 32 teams playing in the real world cup are represented in this online social networking tournament, where the support of fans will decide who the winner is, instead of the goals scored.
The online tournament already kicked off in December last year, but there is still time to support your team and enable them to win the virtual trophy.
The team with the most tweets in each round will prevail and go on to the next stage, regardless of how the real team fares in the real tournament.
Follow all the action in the online tournament by visiting the Extra Man website, which will showcase every stage of the tournament taking place on Twitter.
The rules of the game are simple. As with the real 2010 FIFA World Cup there are group and knockout stages, including quarter finals, semi finals and the final itself. The more tweets a country gets, the more fans they have and the better chance they have of progressing to the subsequent rounds.
A general tweet about a team scores that team one point, while a #TWC(name of your team) tweet is worth five points.
Be crazy and have some fun: get in on the action and tweet #TWC(name of the country) now!
