As of 1 May, Vodacom contract customers will be getting free minutes over weekends and free minutes in the evenings during the week with the new More Minutes bundle.
That's right, the company says that contract customers can get up to three hours worth of free calls to use over weekends or weekday nights, but it is only to call other Vodacom customers and not to call all and sundry on landlines or those on competitors' books.
So this is once again promoting the 'group' thing, trying to win more subscribers on the Vodacom network.
For those who still struggle to find out what is considered to be weekday evening times, it is from 20h00 to 07h00 the next morning.
Free minutes will be given to customers based on what contract they have. For instance, customers with a Talk 240 Contract can either get 60 free minutes to use over weekends or 30 free minutes to use during weekday evenings.
As of 1 May customers' free minutes will automatically be added as free weekend minutes and to change it to free weekday evening minutes for half the time, the user needs to call 111, which, of course, is a free call from a Vodacom phone.
The company is also changing daily call rates for customers, cheapening the call rates of the calls made to other Vodacom subscribers.
