Casio reveals new watchesCasio reveals new watches

If you are like me, any news of a new watch in any form gets my attention. Like women are with shoes, I’m with watches. So when I heard that Casio has unveiled its new Edifice Watch range with dynamic chronograph face, I had to share the news.

There are five new watches to the full-metal Edifice analogue watch range. They feature a shield piece in the middle of the watch face, which gives the watches a sophisticated, yet sporty chronograph look. The shield piece also looks similar to a racing car engine cover.

One of the key features of the E-550 range of watches is the extensive stopwatch functions, which draws the attention of the motor-racing and sporty crowd.

The cleverly designed disk-shaped indicator is funky and also indicates daylight and night time. The disk rotates according to the time from 06h00 to 18h00, and is coloured in either red or blue. The area turns to white for the other 12 hours - visually representing day and night.

The company says the watches also feature a retrograde chronograph, which is accurate to 1/20th of a second, at the 6-o’clock position.

There are two EF-550D models with solid stainless steel bands, the EF-550 with a resin band, and two EF-550PB models featuring black-ion plating on the case.

The watches are water-resistance up to 100m, and the chronograph function’s measuring capacity is 59'59.95”. They also sport battery life of about two years.

The EF-550D, with stainless steel straps, weigh in at about 181g, while the EF-550/550PB weighs about 100g.
