DStv on Demand
now available
By Theo Boshoff
MultiChoice has released its latest offering - DStv on Demand – which allows premium subscribers to watch their favourite programmes whenever it suits them.
It is a free service, allowing DStv premium customers to watch 20 hours of programmes already broadcast on DStv channels, for up to 30 days for local content and seven days for international content, after it was initially broadcast – through their PVR decoders.
DStv on Demand Online is part of this new service, and is available to Premium DStv subscribers who are also MWeb ADSL subscribers. DStv on Demand Online allows users to get DStv content on their computers or devices that connect to the internet. With this online service, which users access through the dstv.com portal, gives them access to 80 hours of content per week.
Currently the online service is only available to premium DStv subscribers with an MWeb ADSL account, but the company says it is already in discussions with other internet service providers to enable this service to premium DStv subscribers who gets their web access through them and not MWeb.

John Kostafis, CEO of DStv Online, says: “It is crucial that the service is of a high standard and this is only possible if ISPs are able to meet certain technical criteria. Due to the large size of the files, downloading content will use significant amounts of bandwidth, and for this reason, we recommend an uncapped service for the best viewing experience.”
