Follow the green light

So many people are jumping on the "save-the-planet" bandwagon - which is a good thing - that technology and electrical companies are constantly having to be innovative and come up with new products that will assist consumers in doing exactly that.Radiant, a lighting and electrical company, has unveiled a new compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), the G9 Spiral lightbulb.

According to the company, the G9 is available in seven-, nine- and 11-watt models and is more compact and brighter than the previous G9 tube model. It produces in the region of 500 more lumens than the previous tube model.

Unfortunately the light is not dimmable, but that’s a small price to pay, when you are saving the earth, now isn't it? The packaging is also more eco-friendly.

Radiant says the new G9 bulbs are available from most lighting and electrical wholesalers and although costing more than standard halogen lamps, the benefits of lower electricity usage and longer lifespan is compensation for the higher price tag.
