Samsung to sponsor Bulls teamGoogle releasing
online bookstore

By Tallulah Habib
Soon, buying a book will be as easy as Googling the title.

July will see Google coming into direct competition with Amazon's Kindle store by making titles available online.

The books will be viewable in-browser, which means that they will be open to any device, including cellphones. Once downloaded, they will be saved in the browser cache to be read offline at any time.

Called Google Editions, the store was announced at the end of last year and is completely separate from the controversial Google Books Project, which has put Google in court over the archiving of out-of-print titles.

According to Chris Palma, Google's manager for strategic-partner development, other websites will also be allowed to sell Google Editions and keep the bulk of the revenue from any sales.
As of yet, there is no indication of how much these ebooks will cost.
