Lighten your loadiPhone does PDF scans

Business applications company Cortado has incorporated a new function into its free mobile workplace solution for iPhone users, now also featuring PDF scanning and copying capabilities.

The iPhone business app, Cortado Workplace, which has been available since 1 March this year now also includes 1GB of online storage space, cloud printing functions, and the ability to scan and copy documents using the iPhone's camera.

This could be a great business tool for small businesses to enhance the business' communications with customers without having to pay huge costs for applications of the same nature. If you are an adventurous consumer with an iPhone, it might also be a treat to try out, even if it is just to keep some PDF records of stuff.

According to the company, the scan document function automatically converts the images into a PDF file, which users can then save online in the cloud, making use of the free 1GB storage provided.

The PDF document can then be e-mailed or multiple copies can be printed on a local or networked printer, also making use of the phone’s WiFi capability.

For interested individuals and businesses, the Cortado Workplace solution is available in the Apple AppStore for free.

The company is also in the process of offering a solution called Cortado Corporate Server for businesses wishing to configure the cloud printing service in a firewall-protected cloud and says it will be a cross-platform software solution that will include iPhone support. We doubt that this will be a free service solution, but worthwhile for small businesses that do not have an IT department or any knowledge of IT backbone infrastructure.
