Lighten your loadBeware - Not Trudon
Theo Boshoff

There is a battle on the horizon between Yellow Pages owner Trudon and an independent consultancy company called Directory Solutions.

This stems from a situation where Directory Solutions is targeting Trudon customers, misleading customers into thinking that it is acting on Trudon's behalf and then charging customers a flat fee to update Yellow Pages customers' information on the White Pages.

According to Johan Myburgh, CFO of Trudon, there is currently a case in this regard at the Competition Tribunal and an outcome is expected soon.

Trudon says that Directory Solutions does not have the critical data of its customers, in terms of business and marketing plans and can thus not give customers the right advice. The company also says that Directory Solutions is charging customers for the free service of having their contact details listed on the 1023 database.

"Directory Solutions is in no way affiliated to Trudon and we deal with all our customers directly, either telephonically or one-on-one," adds Myburgh.

According to a statement by Trudon, it only charges customers for advertising excluding the additional flat fee that Directory Solutions also includes, and is, therefore, a much cheaper option for customers wanting to update their information on the various directories.

Trudon says it does not accept any entries from Directory Solutions, as the company confuses Trudon customers. It also states that it is the only company that can update customer entries on the Yellow and White Pages.
