Camileo camcorder
range extended
By Theo Boshoff
Toshiba has extended its range of Camileo camcorders by adding the SX500 and SX900 devices to its portfolio.
According to the company, these two new devices have advanced video features for the more demanding film-maker and videographer, with optimised zoom capabilities as well as better lighting control for shooting content in a variety of lighting conditions.
The Camileo 10 Megapixel SX500, notes Toshiba, sports a powerful 5x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom to capture long-distance scenes and has an embedded electronic image stabiliser.
In terms of light sensitivity, the SX500 features light sensitivity of 4 Lux, which the company says allows recording even in twilight.
The SX500 is capable of capturing videos with a resolution of up to Full HD quality (1 920 x 1 080i/60fps) / (1 920 x 1 080p/30fsp) and can also be used as a digital still camera that takes photos up to 4 000 x 3 000 pixels in 4:3 mode or 4 480 x 2 520 pixels in 16:9 mode, Toshiba adds.
The 14-megapixel SX900 camcorder offers 9x optical zoom and a light sensitivity of 3 Lux, which allows for video capture in normally lit indoor spaces without needing an extra lamp - all in a slim 33mm design and weighing only 151g.
Both models support the latest SD card technology and use of SDXC cards with a capacity of up to 64GB, which Toshiba says is enough storage capacity to record more than seven hours of Full HD videos.
Also incorporated in the new models are a number of basic editing functions to edit photos on the camera without the need for a PC, such as a cut/join function for immediate video processing, as well as embedded red eye and contrast correction. The new Camileo camcorders, adds Toshiba, will offer a full version of Arcsoft MediaImpression 2 and a 30-day free trial of Video deluxe 15 by Magix to allow users to manage their videos on a PC.
The Camileo SX500 and SX900 are available from Hi-Fi Corporation at a recommended retail price of R2 799 and R3 599 respectively. |
