Kinec“Project Natal” released as “Kinect”
By Tallulah Habib
Microsoft has finally unveiled their motion-control project Natal, now with the official title of “Kinect” and with a bunch of features aiming to compete with Nintendo’s WiiMotion and Sony’s PlayStation Move controllers.

The controller, which is being released in the US on 7 November, works in conjunction with the Xbox and includes facial and voice recognition capabilities. Using a camera and 3D depth sensors, the device is able to sense motion in three dimensions. Where the WiiMotion and Sony Move rely on separate controllers, with this system, the company says, the whole body of the user becomes a controller.

The launch titles are:
Kinectimals – a children's game enabling interaction with baby big cats
Kinect Sports – similar to WiiSports
Kinect Joy Ride – motor-racing
Kinect Adventures – including river rafting, riding down rails, etc.
Your Shape – like WiiFit
Dance Central – like Dance Revolution

As of yet there is no price but estimates are between $100 and $150.
