Q&A: Romain du Gardier
Sales & marketing manager at Logitech
Q: Which would you say is the most needed PC peripheral and why?
A: According to consumer test groups, the preferred peripheral at the time of purchasing a notebook still remains the mouse. When navigating through digital content, the optical or laser mouse is more user-friendly than the pre-installed touch pad found on a notebook.
Q: What is the must-have PC peripheral for 2010?
A: In light of the above, I recommend the Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX, as the ultimate companion. Thanks to Darkfield tracking technology, this unique mouse tracks on any surface, including 7mm glass. In recent years, technology design has been based on ‘form follows function’ and the Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX is no exception.
Another peripheral I cannot live without is a webcam to enjoy video conferencing, and for business people a good digital presenter is another device I would highly recommend.
Q: What is your personal favourite gadget and how has it helped you?
A: Research has shown that we spend more than 60% of our time in poor lighting conditions and because of this I would have to say that my ultimate favourite product is an Illuminated Keyboard that is back-lit, thus improving working conditions.
Q: Will we in future see more integrated peripheral devices like a mouse that does more than its primary function?
A: The needs of consumers drive the capacity for companies to enhance their products and innovations. I think 2010 is a year for new and improved products, and even a few unexpected surprises.
Q: Is smaller always better in the mobile world?
A: Yes and No. Yes, as long as performance and practicality is improved. The Nano receiver, for example, was introduced in 2008 and has ensured major improvements to laptop users through its ‘plug and forget’ feature and is so small, that the worry about damaging the device when moving between spaces is one less concern.
I would say no when it comes to ergonomic design as there still is a fine balance between performance and comfort. |
