Create a master password
To prevent everyone on your computer seeing your saved passwords in Firefox, set up a master password by going to Tools, then 'Options'. In 'Options', click on the 'Security' icon. Check the "Use a master password" box. Enter a master password and then click `ok’ - and remember your master password!
Uninstall lost programmes
You thought you uninstalled a program (such as java), application or toolbar but it just won't go away? If you use Firefox or Chrome, type into the address bar "about:plugins". If you are using Internet Explorer (IE), go to Tools, click on Manage Add-ons to see what's installed in your browser. You will see where it is installed so you can delete it.
Just print what you need
If you don’t want to print an entire document and only need certain sections in hard copy, simply highlight the portion(s) you want printed, click on print and choose the "selection" option under Page Range in the printer dialog window. Only the sections you highlighted will be printed.
How to tell if a CD or DVD is fake:
1. Appearance - fake disks are usually tinted blue or purple because of the method of burning.
Labels that seem to be printed on an inkjet printer are also a dead giveaway.
2. Disks marked OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or NFR (not for
resale) are only supposed to come with hardware.
3) Genuine jewel cases come with glossy inserts and do not look like those you can buy separately
in stores.

Facebook's new Open Graph platform shares user info with over 100 000 websites, info the sites are allowed to store. To check what info of yours is being shared, type http://graph.facebook.com/yourname into your browser where “yourname” is either the identity you have registered with Facebook or the number that appears when you go to your profile page. Add speed dials on your BlackBerry
1) In the phone application, press "Menu".
2) Click View Speed Dial List.
3) Click any unassigned key.
4) Click New Speed Dial.
5) Click the contact you wish to assign to that speed dial key.
Reset the printer spooler
When your printer jams or your computer freezes while printing, sometimes all you need to do is reset the spooler - the virtual printer that translates the document for the printer.
1) Click start, right-click on “My computer" or "Computer"
2) Select "Manage"
3) Double-click on "Services and applications", then on "Services"
4) Scroll down and select "Printspooler", and on the right hand bar select "Restart".

Quick data entries in Excel
Want to add the same text, number, or formula into more than one cell in Excel? You don't have to do the copy-and-paste job into every cell. The easier way is to firstly select all the cells you want to populate. Type the text, number or formula, but don’t press Enter yet. Press Ctrl + Enter and Excel will copy what you typed initially into all of the selected cells.
Block those pop-ups
You can block pop-ups and set exceptions in Firefox by going to Tools > Options > Content > Block pop-up Windows.
To block pop-ups and set rules and exception in Internet Explorer (IE), go to Tools > Pop-Up Blocker > Turn On Pop-up Blocker.

Go to start>run type "services.msc" to enter service manager.
You can choose between automatic, manual, and disable.

Find Deleted History
When you clear your history in Internet Explorer or Firefox, it's gone forever, and no one can see it, right? Wrong.
Go to Start > Search > Files & Folders > All Files and Folders
Make sure you enable searching for hidden files and searching in subfolders, then search for files named index.dat on the C drive.
Once you find these files, you can't just open them up. You will need a special reader to view them, such as Super WinSpy.
After a quick installation, you can use it to view your index.dat files; just type in the path to the file on your hard drive, and watch your "deleted" history pop up!

To quickly go to a web address, without having to type the www. in the front and the .com, .net or .org at the back, simply do the following:
Type the name of the website in the address bar, then press:

How to download and install Open Office
1) Go to http://www.openoffice.org/ and click on "download".
2) Save the file to your computer and double-click on it.
3) During the installation process you can choose which programs you wish to install. Writer is like MS Word, Calc is like MS Excel, Impress is like MS Powerpoint, Draw is like MS Visio, Base is like MS Access, and Math is like MS Equation Editor.

Shut down your computer when iTunes Playlists finish
When your iTunes playlist has finished playing the last song and you are already fast asleep in bed, you can turn your computer off automatically without having to wake up. Simply download the Free NightTunes Lite application from http://www.earlybirdapplications.com/products/5-NightTunes.
Start iTunes and NightTunes Lite will start automatically. Check the ‘Active’ button in the window that appears and check the 'Turn Off' box. Choose your playlist in iTunes and start the playback. When all the songs in the playlist have finished playing, NightTunes Lite will automatically shut down your PC.
Mac screenshot shortcuts
Hey Mac users, you are a fortunate lot. Thanks to the built-in abilities of OS X, you can take screenshots using a simple keyboard shortcut. To capture the entire screen, simply push Cmd+Shift+3. To capture only a part of the screen, push Cmd+Shift+4, and drag the crosshair over the selection you want to save. Tapping the spacebar after pushing Cmd+Shift+3 will allow one application window to be highlighted and captured. The resulting image files will automatically be saved to your desktop!

How to open Office 2007 documents in older versions of Office
You get an error message when trying to open a Word 2007 (.docx) document, when you use an older version of the programme, such as Word XP. To open these documents in future, get the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats plugin. It allows you to open/edit/save Office 2007 documents in Office 2000, 2003, or XP – Note: you must have the latest Service Pack (SP) for your version installed. SP3 for Office 2000 and XP, or SP1 for Office 2003.

Catching spammers
Many mail servers (gmail for one) filter out anything following a plus (+) sign. So, when you sign up for something on a site and think they may spam you, put “+sitename” after your name, e.g. theo+flowersite@gmail.com. If that site gives your e-mail address to spammers, the spam will be addressed with the “+flowersite” as well, so you can easily filter it out or call the site on it.
Shortcut keys
1.Hide all your open windows to only see your desktop by pressing the Windows key (that has the Windows logo on it) and “D” simultaneously for Windows PCs.
2.You can enlarge or reduce the text size on any web page when using a PC, not a Mac, by simply pressing Ctrl and the plus or minus keys. To do the same on a Mac, press the Command key and plus or minus.
3.You can easily switch from one open program to another by pressing Alt and Tab together when using a Windows PC or the Command and Tab keys for Mac.
