Cool-er E-Reader. I want one.

Posted by: ShackledMuse on May 10, 2010

Heard of the Cool-Er E-Reader? (the name is a bit unoriginally taken from "cool e-reader,") the first consumer electronics product from Interead. Its been said that

"it's lighter, less expensive ($250), more colorful (it comes in eight colors), and more "open" than the Kindle, accepting a wider variety of file formats (JPEG, PDF, EPUB, TXT, and MP3 file formats.), much like Sony's e-readers do."

Some of the not so friendly reviews point out that it feels to much like a budget reader, and that it'll fade away in Kindle's shadow. But hey, besides being about $100 cheaper than Kindle, I'd like to have 800 novels within reach, and the experience of reading a real book. Yup,  the display looks just like paper.

Its lightweight; comes in a variety of color choices, has a 1GB internal memory, plus an SD card expansion slot - you can add up to an additional 4GB of memory. It has a decent battery life, that will last for about 8000 page turns, but will switch itself off after 15 min if for some reason you fall asleep during the 8000 page reading sprint... lol

And for a nice little additional bonus, proud owners of a Cool-er will receive a 25% lifetime discount at the coolerbooks.com website, where you have a choice of more than 750 000 titles, of which 2 thirds are free.

I personally can't read in direct sunlight. The 6 inch glare-free display is unaffected by direct sunlight, so you can read just about anywhere you see fit.
