How does a struggling blogger survive?

How does a so-called SAPO Chief Teller, Platinum Life Sales Consultant, unemployed writer blogger survives?

SUPPORT

First all, she has a one or two people that truly show their support.

In this case:

  • My loving partner, who takes care of me no matter how hard the circumstances may be,
  • and a best friend, who listens patiently to all my rants and raves, and follows every word I write online.

Their support, in what ever form, means the world to me.

KEEP SEARCHING (AND HOPING)

What else? Apart from begging (which sad to say she's actually begun to consider… Just a little nameless blog somewhere with her sad story and a paypal account… Maybe if 1000 people donated $1 she’d be fine for a while… Just a thought…)

Keep on applying for jobs with the hopes of a positive response. Jobs I would never consider under any circumstances but right now beggars can’t be chooses.

She sees other people getting the jobs she deserve. And strangely enough they don’t even work half as hard as she does. She sees possible opportunities just being passed on to someone else. Without being taken into consideration or getting a chance to prove her worth.

And all of this slowly drives her insane.

As a very last option, perhaps crawling back to the Post Office. As a VERY LAST option.

WRITING

A so-called SAPO Chief Teller,  Platinum Life Sales Consultant,  unemployed writer  blogger writes until 4am. She sits in bed and writes/types until staring at the bright screen in a dark room makes her slightly dizzy and a bit nauseous. And she’ll write some more.

She’ll write articles for MyDL and Triond, (and a whole list of other sites she still has to try out.) She writes and writes and hope she generates enough to keep the creditors of her back. And when she does make a fairly big amount, like being Top Earner, no one truly knows how grateful she is.

E-SELLING

She markets hand made artsy items/jewelry on places like Fiverr, hoping to make a few positive sales of $5 per piece. She signs up at eBay, even though the bids always close without sales, and she opens an Etsy account she cant use because her credit card debt has to be paid off first.

CLEVER SURFING

Being a so-called SAPO Chief Teller,  Platinum Life Sales Consultant,  unemployed writer means she has limited data options. She can’t (like most bloggers on myDL, for instance) spend the whole day online just writing to her heart’s content and keep up to date with possible hot topics to write about. Oh no, no such luxury. She doesn’t have an internet connection at work that she can use and abuse at a leisurely pace. Like most/some people.

She was in the fortunate position to win a BlackBerry Curve, and with a BlackBerry comes unlimited internet usage. Instead, she’ll use her BlackBerry to “research” new topics and to keep an eye on her online profiles. Makes it increasingly difficult to source good writing material, and finding links and images to keep her posts interesting. She’d ONLY use the laptop to write offline and then to post articles to the various blogs, and even that’s quite taxing on one’s data bundle.
So, she really might consider begging. For money. For a job. To feel like worthy human being again. Wait… Begging makes one feel worthy?

Right now, though, she might just return to bed because she’s been up writing  articles till the sun came up some time after 5am… And 3 hours sleep wont hardly be enough if she’s gonna have to write again later on…
