MyGaming:Gamers gets interactive
Nafisa Akabor
Who says gamers are anti-social? Hidden in cyberspace, gamers come out to play on the mygaming.co.za forums.

The MyGaming website – www.mygaming.co.za – appeals to the hardcore gamer. It has everything – well, almost – that the South African gamer should know, ranging from news and reviews of games, to videos, screenshots and a forum.

The site itself is neatly laid out, as would be expected from a new site. It’s very Web 2.0, with standard features like search, latest comments, recent posts, popular posts, reader poll and most commented. Unlike a lot of community sites, the user is allowed to leave comments without registering.
This multimedia-rich website is bandwidth-intensive, so be sure not to use up most of your data by watching videos.

Apart from featuring the latest news, there’s an option to select a gaming platform and find information catering for it. MyGaming has exclusive content for PC, PS3 and Xbox gamers. Browsing through will reveal some really cool opinion pieces like ‘best PC games of the 90s’’, ‘5 things game developers should stop doing’ and information on which console is the most played (this generation).

There’s also the option to share articles on social bookmarking sites such as Digg or del.icio.us. Members are allowed to add their gaming events in the open calendar. MyGaming also has a Twitter presence if wanting up-to-date information. Alternately, new content can be delivered straight to your inbox via RSS.

A big part of the site is the forum and every new sign-up gets a R75 WantItAll voucher. This is the place to ask the community for assistance with gaming or hardware issues, take part in discussions or brag about high scores. Just make sure to follow the forum etiquette.
